Betting on WWE wrestling matches sounds pretty fun if you ask me.

I just wish I had a guy on the inside that could leak me some information but unfortunately for us, that isn't the case.

For many of us as kids, we were big fans of pro wrestling.

Watching as much television as I did wasn't optimal for my development but it sure was fun, and pro wrestling was a big part of that.

I can remember seeing my favorites do their thing every week on our giant 20-inch screen and practicing the moves all week long with my friends on the bed or in the yard until the next NWA, WCW, or WWE event.

I wish I would have wrestled in school competitively as it sure would have helped my MMA game throughout the years but I was too busy acting out scenes from Monday Night Raw.

My interest began with Ric Flair (obligatory whooo) and the Four Horsemen then it was the Road Warriors and the Steiner Brothers.

When the WWE was still the WWF and they took over with Degeneration X, The Undertaker, Stone Cold Steve Austin, and The Rock, I jumped ship.

These characters, especially the latter two were once in a generation talents and captivated the minds and hearts not only of kids around the world but plenty of adults too.

At this point, I knew it was staged but I didn't care. It was my soap opera. My mother had All My Children, my Dad had Fox News, and I had pro wrestling.

After UFC 1 and high school graduation/Air Force basic training came, though, my interest fell off.

As of late, though, when I learned that I could bet on the matches, I've been catching up and I was pleasantly surprised to see some familiar faces.

As you can see, the two biggest draws of all-time are still at it. These legends are a combined 136 years old but were 'this' close to scrapping and slamming 'one more time'.

Jerry 'The King' Lawler is still calling the matches. His character may come off as a doldrum at times but the man is pure genius.

Alright, enough member berries for today. We are both going to be pre-diabetic in a week if I keep this up.

Let's talk more about the present, your betting options, how to go about it, and what is your best strategy to win.

The WWE in 2019

The organization is by far the largest of its kind in the world. They put on over 500 events a year!

On a weekly basis, they have 3 live shows.

  • RAW is still on Monday night broadcast on the USA Network.
  • NXT is the new show and they feature up-and-coming stars or the NXT generation. That is also on USA.
  • Finally, SmackDown is on Fridays and is now shown on FOX.

About 7 years ago, RAW and SmackDown split storylines and superstars. They were both still technically WWE but they got their own belts and for the most part, kept to themselves.

Vince McMahon then instituted a wild card rule that allowed 3 or 4 wrestlers to appear on both shows. This includes Becky 'The Man' Lynch who we have bettings odds on to compete against Sasha Banks at Hell in the Cell this Sunday on pay per view.

Prediction blog on the way!

It has been said that the wild card rule is going away not so that each brand's wrestlers can remain exclusive but to go back to the old days with just two shows and one encompassing banner, the WWE.

I think some belts will disappear too. This will be fun, though, because it brings about many unification bouts.

If you think this sounds like too much, we have to ask ourselves: How long can one story be told?

The WWE has been very successful for decades now and they aren't going to give it up.

Pro wrestling has a worldwide audience and they still make a ton of profit. We just have to expect the unexpected and roll with the fake punches.

Sorry, not fake. 'Scripted.'

Safe Betting Sites

Currently, there are betting odds on the upcoming Hell in a Cell PPV event scheduled for this Sunday evening Eastern Standard Time.

I will be releasing a betting preview blog later this week and picking the winners.

If you are thinking you're going to get rich on these matches, I hate to burst your bubble but the online betting sites place limits on each wager.

Either they are spending most of their time working on the odds for major sports and/or they don't want to risk losing a significant amount of money on a scripted event.

That's okay, two can play at that game.

Betting on sports is fun. That's why we do it.

You see, the Tennessee Titans are playing the Buffalo Bills this weekend and if you aren't from Nashville or Upstate New York, you might not care too much about the outcome besides some random fantasy players.

Throw a few bucks down on the Bills moneyline and you'll be ready to throw your remote control through the screen when you realize how much they miss quarterback Josh Allen after he got KO'ed by the Pats.

Oh, wait. I said fun, right?

Imagine if your mother could bet on her favorite soap opera. She really wouldn't miss a show then.

So, there's an opportunity as well as fun to be had while betting on WWE but is there value?

And if so, what is our strategy?

Strategy

WWE match outcomes start with the writers, so my colleagues and I should have an upper hand in predicting where the storyline is potentially headed.

You don't have to be a writer, though. Maybe you've been a fan for a long time and are reading this to learn how to add some excitement and make some money in the process.

We are looking for potential patterns that maybe we've seen repeat themselves in the past before.

At its core, it's a television show and it's quite the long-running television show at that, so I'm sure if we look hard enough, we will find some clues.

Also, what wrestlers or characters are they pushing?

Has one been on top for some time now and their dominance has become boring?

If so, then maybe bet on the challenger who needs validation to be considered elite.

I do this when I'm picking and betting on MMA. I can even see where the UFC and other organizations got some of their ideas from the WWE.

There are also various betting options available to you other than just picking a winner of a match.

  • There are battle royals like one of my favorite pay per views of all time the 'Royal Rumble'.
  • You can bet on which wrestler stays in the longest or if there will be a first-time winner which gives you more than one contestant to pull for.
  • Just like you bet on who stays in the longest, you can put a few dollars down on who stays in the ring the longest.

These matches are always fun and the plethora of betting options only adds to it.

I love it!

In Conclusion

Yes, betting on a predetermined outcome is a thing!

I mentioned all of the different betting options that will likely be available to you in case some outcome bets come with unrealistic and expensive odds.

The WWE has survived the days of Monday Night Raw vs Monday Nitro and eventually bought the WCW.

They bought the ECW, if you remember those guys, as well.

Extreme!!!

Hey, I miss Stone Cold and The Rock as much as everybody and another Kevin Hart box office pairing aimed at the Chinese audience just isn't cutting it anymore.

There are rumors, Dwayne could be coming back for a special appearance.

At least we still have Brock Lesnar!

The real Brock. The fully-roided Brock.

Nobody wants to see his deflation into the Michelin Man.

Now, we can bet on this stuff too!

I think it's great.

Hell in a Cell is this Sunday.

I will be back with a betting preview for you guys. Defensive player of the year odds nfl.

While everyone knows that professional wrestling is pre-scripted, you can still place bets on the WWE and other major wrestling promotions. The process and the layout of the odds is as easy as can be if you know how to bet on MMA or how to bet on boxing, though the actual experience may feel more like you're betting on pure entertainment.

How, exactly, does one bet on a WWE event? In this article, we'll walk you through the following essential components, and you'll be fully equipped to start betting on the WWE!

  1. Which WWE events you can bet on?
  2. Where to find online sportsbooks that cater to WWE bettors?
  3. How to read WWE odds and lines?
  4. Some rudimentary WWE betting strategy

1. Which WWE Events Can You Bet on?

While the WWE runs year-round, with weekly shows on both Monday night (RAW) and Tuesday night (Smackdown), sportsbooks don't make every WWE show available to wager on, only the marquee pay-per-views.

It's a safe bet (so to speak) that the majority of sportsbooks will post lines for the WWE's 'Big Four': Wrestlemania, Royal Rumble, Summerslam, and Survivor Series.

The more minor PPVs—like Elimination Chamber, Fastlane, and TLC—may be available on certain sites, but don't count on it.

WWE wagers are usually made available about three to four days in advance of the relevant event. So if you are keen to wager on professional wrestling, make sure you know when the big events are scheduled to take place.

The 'Big Four' WWE events are as follows:

Can you bet on pro wrestling
  • Royal Rumble
  • Wrestlemania
  • Summerslam
  • Survivor Series

The limited time-frame is understandable. Sportsbooks are a bit wary of allowing too much money to be placed on predetermined events, and the short betting window helps alleviate that issue. They also tend to cap the amount you can wager or the amount you can win on WWE bets, with payouts ordinarily capped at around $50 per bet.

Again, this limitation is pretty reasonable when you recall that, once upon a time, certain insiders and even actual WWE superstars were starting to bet on the match outcomes.

2. Where Can You Bet on the WWE?

Where does one go to bet on pro wrestling? Numerous online sportsbooks provide odds on the major WWE pay-per-views, including:

  • Wrestlemania

  • Survivor Series

2. Where Can You Bet on the WWE?

Where does one go to bet on pro wrestling? Numerous online sportsbooks provide odds on the major WWE pay-per-views, including:

Unlike other combat sports like MMA, sportsbooks usually only provide odds and lines on which of the two combatants in a match will win (or, in the case of Royal Rumble, which of the 30 combatants will last to the bitter end).

You generally won't see related prop bets like method of victory that you do in MMA and boxing, though it isn't unheard of. For instance, some sites may offer a Royal Rumble prop on who will get thrown out of the ring first or who will eliminate the most wrestlers.

From time to time, you may also see odds on celebrities—like Donald Trump or Lavar Ball—wrestling in the WWE, much like there are currently odds on whether Floyd Mayweather will fight in the UFC. These bets will be subject to certain time constraints, usually a calendar year.

3. How Do WWE Odds Work?

A typical WWE line will look something like this:

  • Brock Lesnar (-500) vs. Braun Strowman (+300)

This line has Lesnar as the favorite at -500 (bet $500 to win $100) and Strowman as the underdog at +300 (win $300 on a $100 wager). Of course, you aren't required to bet $500 on Lesnar or $100 on Strowman. You can wager whatever amount you please (subject to a sportsbooks' rules) and the payout will be commensurate. Since a $100 wager on Strowman would earn you a $300 profit, a $50 wager would earn you a $150 profit.

As mentioned, betting sites usually cap maximum wagers on WWE events because they know the outcomes are predetermined and that bettors may have insider information. If a site has a $50 max-winnings limit on WWE bets, then, in the example above, the most you would be able to wager on Brock Lesnar would be $250, and the most you would be able to wager on Braun Strowman would be $16.66.

In reality, sportsbooks don't use WWE wagers to make their money. They use them to attract people to their sites and to get new users to sign up, and they hope that WWE bettors will become regular and frequent sports bettors. For this reason, many people in the betting community regard WWE betting as an extension of light-hearted, entertainment prop betting, rather than something that requires close study and carefully applied strategy.

4. WWE Betting Strategy

Still, betting on the WWE is trickier than you might think. Just because the winners are predetermined doesn't mean you will always get the most obvious results. The WWE creative team throws a few 'swerves' in from time-to-time, and there are always toss-up matches that could go either way, plus matches that end in disqualification.

Like wagering on any sport, you can often find value in underdogs when it comes to WWE betting. However, as mentioned, most sportsbooks will cap potential winnings at a fairly low amount, usually in the $50 range these days to prevent WWE writers and superstars cashing in on their own storylines.

If you don't follow professional wrestling too closely, it might be extremely difficult to know who to bet on and where the value might be in WWE lines.

The best strategy is to do your research. There are many websites (including ours) that analyze the odds and give predictions for each match. Most of the people who are in-the-know understand the inner workings of pro wrestling. It really comes down to an understanding of who the WWE likes and who they're building to be big stars. WWE writers also tend to follow a very old-school philosophy of how to manage talent and create a story arc.

But even the smartest and most educated prognosticators can get things wrong as there is often an element of surprise in the bigger matches, and that's where you can find underdogs that have value. There just might be $50 in it for you.
